Catalyst’s Sue Carlton to serve on Hillsborough Charter Review Board

Sue Carlton, longtime journalist and the newest member of Catalyst Communications Group, has been selected to serve on Hillsborough County’s Charter Review Board.

The board is formed every five years to conduct a comprehensive study of county government and can file proposed amendments to the county’s Charter for consideration by the voters. Its 14 members must be registered voters and are appointed by county commissioners. Board members can’t be elected officials and are not paid. Carlton was appointed by Commissioner Harry Cohen.

“As a journalist, I covered government for decades,” said Carlton, who was a reporter, editor and columnist for more than 30 years before joining Catalyst in January.  “Now, as a voter and resident who cares deeply about the future of where we live, I am looking forward to this opportunity.”

During her time working as a journalist, Carlton’s work was recognized with numerous state and national journalism awards, including being named Florida’s top columnist in 2012 by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors and receiving first place for consumer reporting in the 2021 Green Eyeshade awards.

Carlton joined the Catalyst team in January 2025 as a senior consultant.
