Catalyst’s Director of Video & Photography Receives 2024 Silver Circle Award
Tampa, FL — Catalyst Communications Group proudly celebrates Gene Yagle's receipt of the prestigious 2024 Silver Circle Award from the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). This tremendous honor recognizes Gene's outstanding contributions to the broadcast industry, unparalleled dedication to excellence, and unwavering commitment to elevating storytelling standards.
The Silver Circle is a special recognition given to individuals who have worked in the television industry for 25 years or more, and give back to their communities as mentors, educators, and volunteers.
Yagle was one of eight people honored this year with the Silver Circle Award during a luncheon at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Marina Hotel on May 19.
“It was truly an honor and incredibly inspiring to stand alongside my peers, each of whom has dedicated decades to the craft of journalism and storytelling,” Yagle said.
Yagle is currently Catalyst’s Director of Video & Photography. During his illustrious career, he consistently demonstrated journalist excellence for more than four decades. He has been honored with 31 regional Emmy awards, in addition to dozens of Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists and Edward R. Murrow awards.
“Gene is truly one of the best. He has an exceptional eye and innate ability to transform his vision through the camera lens into video magic,” said Catalyst Founder & CEO Preston Rudie. “His compassion and skill in capturing the perfect moments makes him one of the most respected photojournalists in the industry. But beyond that, Gene is just a wonderful, caring human.”
For 37 years, Gene worked at WTSP/CBS in Tampa Bay as a photojournalist and later as chief photojournalist before his recent retirement. During his tenure, he traveled across the United States, Central America, Europe, and the Middle East to shoot and edit stories. Yagle also worked at WBBH in Ft. Myers and WSVN in Miami. Plus, he spent several years working in radio as a disc jockey and a news anchor and producer for a news/talk station.
“I am always observing, learning, and appreciating what I had the chance to do. My hope is that journalists I have worked with have learned from me, as much as I have from them,” Yagle said.
